Staying more than 7 days: deep-dive blocks
- 🎨 Slow art & museums: MACBA and the CCCB in the Raval, the Fundació Antoni Tàpies and the Design Museum at Glòries, plus the neighbourhood’s design galleries. Add Miró and MNAC if your 7-day route skipped them. MACBA is closed on Tuesdays, the CCCB on Mondays.
- 🍷 Food & wine trail: The R4 train takes an hour to Penedès, where you tour the cellars and vineyards of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of cava (no car, so taste freely). Cava houses usually need booking and close on Sunday afternoons. Prefer the city? Do a tapas & natural wine walk in Gràcia or Sant Antoni.
- ⚽ Sport & pop culture: In the morning, the Spotify Camp Nou museum and stadium tour in Les Corts (works are ongoing, so check what the tour covers when booking) and lunch nearby; in the afternoon, the Olympic Ring on Montjuïc with the Olympic Stadium and the Montjuïc Communications Tower. The two are 35–40 min apart by metro.
- 🛍️ Local shopping & design: Els Encants, the historic flea market under a mirrored roof at Glòries (open Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat), Gràcia’s independent designer shops and shopping on Passeig de Gràcia.
- 🏖️ Nature & the coastal path (Camí de Ronda): The finest stretch of the Costa Brava: the historic path from Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc and Tamariu, along cliffs and hidden coves. About 2 hours each way by bus; few departures in winter, so check the return time first.
Frequently asked questions
How many days should I spend in Barcelona?
Two days covers the main sights; three to four lets you really get to know the city. From five days on, day trips such as Sitges, Montserrat or Girona join the route.
What is the difference between the three paces?
At a relaxed pace you go inside no museums and enjoy the city from its streets. At a balanced pace you go inside one or two icons. At a packed pace every major ticketed landmark is planned inside, entry times included.
