What is Days and the City?
A route planner that helps you explore cities with tried-and-tested, hour-by-hour itineraries. However many days you have, you see where to go and when, the travel time in between, meal breaks and the tickets to book, all in one plan.
Is the planner free?
Yes, the planner and guides are free. Only our custom itinerary service is paid (59 €).
What is the difference between the three paces?
At a relaxed pace you go inside no museums and enjoy the city from its streets. At a balanced pace you go inside one or two icons. At a packed pace every major ticketed landmark is planned inside, entry times included.
How do I fit the route to my own arrival and departure times?
Enter the city, your arrival and departure times and your pace in the planner on the home page. It trims the first and last days around your flights, accounts for closed days and shows ticket deadlines.
Are opening hours and closed days taken into account?
Yes. Opening hours and closing days of the ticketed places on the route are checked. If a museum falls on its closing day, days are swapped or that stop is seen from outside. Hours can change, so we recommend checking the official website before you go.
Where should I buy tickets?
Ticket links in your plan take you to trusted booking sites, and each ticket shows the latest date to book it ("Book now", "Book today" and so on). You can also buy from the official websites.
Can I use the plan offline?
Yes. Save it with the PDF button on the plan page and open it on your phone without internet.
I am staying longer than 7 days. What then?
The planner shows the first 7 days hour by hour and suggests deep-dive blocks to choose from for the remaining days. Trips of up to 60 days can be planned.
How does the custom itinerary service work?
Fill in the request form with your dates, number of travellers, pace and interests. We review it and reply by email within 2 working days. The service costs 59 €.
Which cities are available?
Barcelona for now. We add new cities with the same care, testing them on the ground.
Barcelona
How many days should I spend in Barcelona?
Two days covers the main sights; three to four lets you really get to know the city. From five days on, day trips such as Sitges, Montserrat or Girona join the route.
How far ahead should I book tickets?
Timed tickets sell out fast. Our advice: Sagrada Família at least 21 days ahead; Casa Batlló at least 7 days ahead; Park Güell at least 7 days ahead; Casa Milà at least 7 days ahead; Dalí Theatre-Museum at least 7 days ahead; Casa Vicens at least 3 days ahead; Museu Picasso at least 3 days ahead; Palau Güell at least 3 days ahead; Montserrat at least 2 days ahead; Barcelona Cathedral at least 2 days ahead; Sant Pau Recinte Modernista at least 2 days ahead; Girona Cathedral at least 1 day ahead; Montjuïc Castle at least 1 day ahead; MNAC at least 1 day ahead; Fundació Joan Miró at least 1 day ahead.
What should I watch out for on Sundays and Mondays?
Museu Picasso, Palau Güell, MNAC and Fundació Joan Miró are closed on Mondays. On Sundays some places open later: Sagrada Família at 10:30, Barcelona Cathedral at 14:00 and Girona Cathedral at 12:00. Enter your dates and the planner reorders the days and switches to the Sunday versions for you.
